It will never be his fault. He does not have a moral compass, has not presented himself as a caring American or empathetic citizen of the world. He will never be guilty of racism, rape, theft, sexual assault, corruption, adultery, nepotism, fraud, collusion or separating 545 children from their parents at the border. The courts may one day convict him of something but he will never admit to it nor will his supporters aka fans.

So it’s on you, it’s on us, to defend ourselves from being accessories to his crimes against the nation and the world. If he takes the oath again we are guilty.

We are guilty of grabbing women by the... We are guilty of destroying immigrant families. We are guilty of dishonoring the only real Americans, Natives, whose sacred lands have been decimated and stolen under his watch. As if that’s not enough, during the greatest threat the country has faced, the pandemic, their cries for help have been ignored. We have killed them.

We have betrayed Mother Nature and given up the land to corporations. We are denying our children clean air, cancer-free fish, water without toxins, a planet that is not flooding and an environmental system that is not burning. We can not sustain what we don’t have anymore and every day it’s getting harder to breathe. This is a guilt that may soon be impossible to redeem. We have committed irreversible crimes for money.

We have heard a man’s words and covered our ears — hashtag he didn’t mean it. We have read a man’s tweets and covered our eyes. We have listened to lies and threats, seen his most loyal switch sides, watched him send hundreds to beat down the innocent as our souls have been traumatized watching our military invading us. Yet we speak no evil. We bite our tongues as to not offend those who think he is great; all lives matter except the ones he says don’t; and we don’t need change we just need to follow him.

We have been guarding our minds in our apathy but every day he spends in office we lose more of our soul. We can’t run away from him passport in hand. The fact is, many nations really don’t want plague-carrying Americans to set foot on their lands.

We have been tainted by his actions and inactions. We have watched loved ones die while he downplayed a virus that is killing Americans — over 223,000 deaths with 8.45 million cases and counting. While protecting us from panicking, most significantly, he kept his precious stock market from crumbling. We have questioned our own morality after hearing the news that he contracted the virus. Should we pray or cheer, many of us thought, while others of us chose. The divide was clear as night and day but the depths of his destructive affect on us many have yet to realize. He has stolen almost four years of our humanity.

Look at the ugliness that runs rampant. Did he do us a favor and reveal who we already were? Are we Daniel Cameron, Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, Jeffrey Epstein, Nancy Pelosi, Derek Chauvin? Are we manipulators, liars, cheaters, murderers, politicians, opportunists, are we watchers but not Watchmen (straight out of DC Comics)?

Meaning, are we unwilling to seek redemption for our nation in the form of action and activism? We believe by voting that we are transferring our powers over to someone else to fix what does not work in our nation rather than affording them the privilege to take powerful actions on our behalf. Yet, all the while, they should know we will be watching them, questioning them, pushing them for the changes we want not waiting quietly for them to change our world and complaining three and a half years later if they don’t. This is how it must be in order for us to be guilt-free. We must insert ourselves so deeply into the process that there can never be another “He” again, only “We”. We must run the country from now on.

We the people…
